Anxiety or worry is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure. Anxiety happens as a normal part of life and is a normal reaction to stressful situations. It can even be useful when it alerts you to danger. But for some people it becomes significantly increased and persistent due to exaggerated sense of danger. Persistent anxiety interferes with daily activities such as work, school or sleep. This type of anxiety can disrupt relationships and enjoyment of life, and over time it can lead to health concerns and other problems.

  • If the feeling of anxiety persists all/ most of the time, it is Generalised Anxiety Disorder.

  • If anxiety is felt in only a specific situation like a crowded place/ social situation/ lifts/ planes etc, it is considered to be a Phobic disorder.

  • If very severe anxiety is felt in an episodic way, if may be a Panic Disorder.
